The Mangar Elk is a highly portable, battery or mains powered emergency lifting cushion that lifts a fallen person simply and safely minimising moving, handling and transfer risks. The Elk is used and recommended by many UK NHS Ambulance Trusts as key equipment to lift a fallen person. Operated by a mains powered low air pressure using the new Airflo 24 power source. The new Airflo 24 by Mangar is a low pressure air compressor, which has been designed to inflate the Mangar Camel and ELK lifting equipment through a 4-Way hand control. The 4-Way hand control is supplied with the Camel and ELK.Up to 4 times more powerful than the Airflo Plus. More efficient, durable battery technology (NiMH) 1 x 24V. Nearly 30% lighter than the current Airflo – 4.1kg / 9lbs. Vastly improved ergonomically with redesigned grab handle and balanced carry.

Battery and mains versions available. Easy view power levels at a glance with a battery capacity ladder display. Integral ‘Power’ button with indicator LED. Instant charge stowage board as soon as the Airflo 24 is docked. Charge recovery time to do one further lift – 2 hours.

FAQs

Are there different sizes of lifting cushions?: We have an ELK, an Eagle and a Camel lifting cushion. The ELK will lift 450 KG or 980lbs, the Eagle will lift 190 KG or 420lbs, and the Camel will lift 350 KG or 700lbs. For each cushion, one size fits all and no additional accessories are required. In some circumstances a slide sheet, transfer board or transfer belt may be required to assist a transfer.

Can I over inflate my lifting cushion?: No. The Airflo Plus will stop once full pressure is realized.

Can I lift someone supine (lying down) on the lifting cushion?: Yes. This lift with the Mangar Elk is performed in conjunction with a scoop or transfer board. Our Camel and Eagle lifting cushions can lift someone from a lying or sitting position.

How do I clean my lifting cushion?: The lifting cushions should be cleaned when inflated. Sponge clean with a detergent solution and dry thoroughly before storing in a dry place. The lifting cushions are ultrasonically welded so there is no stitching or gaps when germs can collect. To disinfect use a disinfecting solution or alcohol impregnated wipe.

How often should the lifting cushion be serviced?: We recommend servicing your lifting cushion every 12 months.

How quickly does the lifting cushion inflate and deflate?: The speed the lifting cushions inflate will depend on the weight of the person being lifted, but generally it will take less than three minutes. The lifting cushions can deflate in less than a minute.

What is the highest and lowest outside temperature I can use my lifting cushion in?: The maximum temperature is 95F (35C) and lowest 41F (5C).

What lifespan does the lifting cushion have?: We expect lifting cushions (excluding batteries) will last seven years in a professional setting and 10 years for domestic use.

What material is it made from?: The lifting cushions are made from a polyurethane coated nylon fabric, which is a hydrophobic material and does not absorb fluids.
