Description
Talley Quattro Plus 1-in-4 Dynamic Alternating Pressure Mattress
The Talley Quattro Plus is an advanced dynamic mattress replacement system designed to provide pressure relief and redistribution for patients at risk of, or with existing, pressure ulcers.
Developed by Direct Healthcare Group (DHG), the Quattro Plus combines proven 1-in-4 alternating therapy with TISSUEgard technology, Ortho-Differential Support and a multi-stretch cover to provide an effective and comfortable support surface for demanding healthcare and care environments.
Unlike conventional 1-in-2 or 1-in-3 alternating systems, the Quattro Plus supports 75% of the patient's body at all times. Three cells remain inflated while the fourth cell deflates sufficiently to redistribute pressure and encourage tissue reperfusion.
The latest Quattro Plus also benefits from a redesigned control unit with an easy-to-use top-mounted LCD interface, improved infection-control-friendly construction, NFC technology and an enhanced CPR function.
Advanced 1-in-4 Alternating Therapy
At the heart of the Quattro Plus is DHG's established 1-in-4 alternating cell cycle. During operation, groups of three cells remain inflated while every fourth cell deflates sufficiently to redistribute pressure. This means approximately 75% of the patient's body remains supported at all times during the alternating cycle.
This approach provides effective pressure relief while additional benefits may include greater patient comfort and reduced awareness of the movement of the support surface.
Designed for Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Management
The Quattro Plus has been developed to provide pressure relief for patients who are at risk of developing pressure ulcers or who already have existing pressure ulcers. It combines alternating pressure therapy with technologies designed to promote immersion, envelopment and effective pressure redistribution.
As with all specialist pressure care equipment, selection of an appropriate support surface should form part of an individual clinical assessment and pressure ulcer prevention or management plan.
TISSUEgard Technology
The Quattro Plus incorporates DHG's TISSUEgard technology. TISSUEgard enables partial immersion and envelopment of the patient within the support surface.
This helps reduce pressure on the patient's skin while decreasing the pressure differential between inflated and deflated cells; helping reduce associated shearing forces, an important consideration when caring for patients at risk of pressure-related tissue damage.
Ortho-Differential Support
Another important Quattro Plus feature is Ortho-Differential Support. The mattress has firmer outer edges designed to provide additional support and facilitate patient transfers, while the centre of the mattress provides a softer support area.
This creates a useful combination of central immersion and firmer edge support within the same mattress system.
75% Body Support Throughout the Cycle
The 1-in-4 design distinguishes the Quattro Plus from many conventional alternating pressure systems. Rather than deflating a larger proportion of the support surface at any one time, the Quattro system maintains three inflated cells for every cell undergoing deflation.
This ensures that 75% of the patient's body remains supported throughout the alternating cycle. The fourth cell deflates sufficiently to redistribute pressure before the cycle continues through the mattress.
16-Minute Alternating Cycle
The Quattro Plus operates with a 16-minute cycle time. During each cycle, the system alternates pressure through the mattress cells to provide regular periods of pressure redistribution. This automated process operates continuously while the system is correctly set up and in use.
Redesigned Quattro Plus Control Unit
DHG has significantly updated the Quattro Plus control unit to improve usability, cleaning and servicing. The controls and LCD screen are positioned on the top panel, making system information and controls easier to see and access. The revised construction also reduces connection points, inserts and crevices, helping make the control unit easier to clean as part of appropriate infection-control procedures.
Clear LCD Display
The Quattro Plus control unit incorporates a clear LCD screen on its upper surface. Locating the screen and inputs on the top panel makes operating information easier for healthcare professionals and carers to access. This straightforward interface is particularly valuable in busy clinical and care environments where equipment needs to be simple to understand and operate.
NFC Technology
The updated Quattro Plus incorporates an NFC tag. This enables control-unit information to be read simply, while servicing information can also be accessed through the system information function.
This helps healthcare providers and equipment-management teams access relevant equipment information during maintenance and servicing.
Improved Infection Control Design
The latest Quattro Plus control unit has been redesigned with infection control in mind. DHG has reduced the number of connection points, inserts and crevices on the control unit, creating a surface that is easier to clean. This is particularly valuable in hospitals, care homes and other environments where support surfaces may be used by multiple patients and rigorous cleaning protocols are required.
Improved CPR Function
The Quattro Plus incorporates an improved CPR function designed to provide significantly reduced mattress deflation times. Rapid deflation is an important consideration where cardiopulmonary resuscitation needs to be performed. Healthcare professionals should always familiarise themselves with the manufacturer's CPR procedure before the system is placed into clinical use.
Multi-Stretch Mattress Cover
The Quattro Plus is supplied with a PU-coated stretch nylon cover. Its multi-stretch characteristics complement the operation of the dynamic support surface, allowing the mattress to provide appropriate immersion and envelopment without the cover unnecessarily restricting cell movement. The cover also provides a practical external surface for use in professional healthcare environments.
