Fumagalli YPSI Expert Special Needs Stroller

The Fumagalli YPSI Expert is a lightweight, foldable special needs stroller designed for children who require additional postural support while retaining the practicality, manoeuvrability and styling of a modern everyday pushchair.

Developed in collaboration with Peg Perego, the YPSI Expert is intended for children approximately 2 to 6 years old, up to around 115 cm tall, and combines an aluminium folding chassis with a supportive, highly adjustable seating system. 

The seat can be positioned parent-facing or forward-facing, while adjustable seat width and depth, headrest height, footrest position, backrest support and postural accessories allow the stroller to be configured around the individual child. 

With a 30 kg maximum user weight, compact folding dimensions and a complete stroller weight of approximately 14 kg including standard accessories, the YPSI Expert provides a practical solution for everyday family outings, car travel and community mobility.

Designed for Children Approximately 2–6 Years

The YPSI Expert is designed for children approximately 2–6 years old with a maximum child height of approximately 115 cm. 

Age should only be used as a guide. Seat width, seat depth, back height, lower-leg length and the child's postural requirements should also be considered when determining suitability.

30kg Maximum User Weight

The YPSI Expert supports a maximum user weight of 30 kg / approximately 4.7 stone. Even at maximum load the stroller remains designed to be agile and easy to manoeuvre. Ypsi-cat_en

Parent-Facing or Forward-Facing Seat

A major feature of the YPSI Expert is its reversible seating unit. The seat can be turned in a single movement so the child can face the caregiver or foward facing. This can be particularly useful for younger children, children who benefit from reassurance and communication with a caregiver, or those who later prefer a forward-facing position.

Compact Folding Design

The YPSI Expert incorporates a quick and straightforward folding system.

When folded, it measures approximately 59.5 cm wide x 88.5 cm deep x 42 cm high. 

A particularly practical feature is that the hood, footrest and empty storage basket can remain with the stroller during folding. This reduces the need to remove and carry separate components when loading the buggy into a vehicle.

Lightweight Aluminium Frame

The chassis is manufactured from aluminium, helping keep the stroller relatively light while maintaining the strength required for everyday use. 

The complete stroller, including standard accessories, weighs approximately 14 kg. 

Adjustable Seat Width

The seat can be adjusted to three widths:

• 20 cm
• 25 cm
• 30 cm. 

This allows the seating system to be adapted as the child grows and enables appropriate pelvic positioning for different body dimensions.

Adjustable Seat Depth

Seat depth adjusts from approximately 23–29 cm. Adjustable seat depth helps ensure the child's thighs are adequately supported while maintaining appropriate clearance behind the knees.

Postural Pelvic Supports

The YPSI Expert has been developed with a range of postural supports including pelvic side pads in different sizes, along with an abductor belt and trunk containment system.  These components help customise the child's seated position rather than simply providing a conventional pushchair seat.

Adjustable Anatomical Hip Belt

The anatomical hip belt is adjustable and designed to hold without compressing. Correct pelvic positioning can provide a more stable base for trunk and head control.

Chest Belt / Trunk Support

A chest belt is included as part of the standard postural package. Ypsi-cat_en

Together with the pelvic supports, it provides additional upper-body containment while walking.

Adjustable Headrest

The headrest adjusts through approximately 43 cm, 48 cm and 53 cm height positions. The headrest is also height adjustable to help accommodate the child's growth. 

Adjustable Backrest Support

The backrest can be adjusted between a more relaxed position and a more active seating position. The adjustment is smooth and quick, changing the support provided by the backrest from reclined to more upright.

Adjustable Postural Seat Position

The seating system itself can also be positioned to alter the child's overall posture. This postural position adjustment, alongside footrest and backrest adjustment gives the YPSI Expert greater flexibility than a standard lightweight buggy.

Height and Angle Adjustable Footplate

The footplate adjusts in both:

• Height
• Inclination / angle. 

The footrest length range is approximately 18–29 cm.  This helps maintain appropriate foot support as the child grows.

Raised Front Seat Cushion

This contributes to the overall supportive seating geometry and can help with maintaining the child's position in the seat.

Adjustable Push Handle

The caregiver push handle is height adjustable, allowing caregivers of different heights to find a more comfortable pushing position.

Sun Hood 

A hood is supplied as standard and provides FP50 sun protection

This is useful for everyday outdoor use and warmer-weather outings.

The YPSI Expert also includes the following postural equipment:
